ROBINSON CREW - PLANT SALE

Saturday, May 3, 2008

Terra Centre Elementary School, Burke Centre

Sale Hours - 8:00 am to 3:00 pm

The ROBINSON CREW SPRING PLANT SALE is a mandatory event for all non-senior rowers.  This is one of our major fundraising events and everyone must participate to make it a success.

This is a huge opportunity to earn points for the ''08/’09.  Don’t miss this chance to get a head start on next year’s points.

The location is Terra Centre Elementary School in Burke Centre, right on the Burke Center Parkway across from the Giant.

We will have an enormous assortment of beautiful plants, including hanging baskets, shrubs, roses, tropicals, annuals and perennials, all delivered for our sale by early Saturday morning, May 3, 2008.

Note that May 3rd is an SAT test date, and the Novices have a Regatta.

CERTIFICATE SALES

To make sure we get lots of buyers to show up at the sale, we pre-sell as many Plant Sale Certificates (at $20 each) as we possibly can!

At the Spring Membership Meeting we will issue each rower a packet of serialized Plant Sale Certificates.

Each non-senior rower is required to accept at least 5 ($100 worth) to either sell to friends, neighbors, or relatives OR to keep for their own family’s use.  Please come to the Spring General Membership meeting prepared to write a check for $100 for these 5 certificates.

We will give each rower an additional 5 certificates to try to sell.  Rowers earn one point for each certificate sold (after the first mandatory 5), but you will not be asked to pay for these until they are sold.

All payments and unsold certificates must be returned by Thursday May 1st.

For additional Plant Sale Certificates, or to drop off money, please contact

Chris Veale, 5418 Chatsworth Ct, Fairfax, VA  22032

Certificates can only be redeemed for plants on the day of the sale and there will be no cash refunds, or cash back for any unused certificate balance.  Please make sure that your customers understand that the certificates are only good for purchases at our sale on May 3rd at Terra Centre.

         2nd Shift             Sales/Loading Orders - 9:30AM to 1:00PM

         3rd Shift              Sales/Loading Orders/Break Down - 12:30PM to 4:00PM

The first work shift unloads trucks and sets out and tags the plants.  Workers have to be ready to work quickly but carefully to ensure that our inventory is properly placed and priced.

The second and third shifts will assist buyers during the sale.  Robinson Crew rowers and family members will help manage the merchandise, help customers carry and load plants in their cars, assist with traffic control in the school parking lot, and provide any other services needed by the customers.

Cashiers will be Robinson Crew parents only, and will accept pre-sold plant sale certificates, cash, checks, or NEW THIS YEAR --- CREDIT CARDS!!!!!

At the end of the day, the fourth shift will reload the racks and trucks, clean the area around the school, pack up all Crew Club materials, and close the sale.

Some of the jobs, particularly unloading and loading, require some heavy lifting – we need some strong bodies to assist us there.

PARENTS AND ROWERS can sign up for Day-of-Sale volunteer positions at the Spring General Membership meeting on March 26th.  We’ll also need parents to sign up to bring additional awnings, chairs, and boxes at that time.  There may be some limited volunteer positions on Friday May 2nd to help pre-pack tables, chairs, and awnings at the Crew shed.
