STUDY HALL UPDATE
This is a quick reminder for
parents and rowers concerning appropriate study hall
behavior as our season draws to a finish for our novice
rowers. Our study hall numbers have drastically
increased as the season progressed, we now have around
28 students using it. We've added a second room,
adjacent to the first to meet the needs of our rowers,
and we try to have two parents each day. It is
important for our students to remember that having a
study hall is a privilege and a convenience for them and
their families. In order to comply with the rules at
Robinson, our students can't simply hang out in the
hallways while they wait for practice to start. When
they do arrive at the study hall they are expected to
sign in and to stay there until
it is time to change for practice and board the bus to
Sandy Run. Of course if they remember that they need to
get something from the library or use the restroom, the
study hall monitor will let them do this, but they need
to ask before leaving study
hall. Spring is in the air now and we've had problems
with some of the rowers simply walking off to chat with
friends, disappearing for unknown times and
destinations. This is not acceptable behavior, and if
our rowers are not courteous and respectful to the study
hall monitors they could jeopardize the opportunity to
have a study hall in the future. If you have any
questions concerning study hall please feel free to
contact me.

STUDY HALL UPDATE
So far our 2nd
round of Crew Study Hall is working well. The study hall is
located in the Health Trailers (Trailer # 628) that are just
outside of
Entrance 10.
The trailers are just outside of the doors near the Athletic
Office (where the White Board is posted).
Based on the
growing usage level and our current chaperone coverage, we
would like to ask that the rowers who may need to stop at
the Library, see a
teacher, or
get a snack from the vending machine, etc. please DO SO
BEFORE coming to study hall. That means they will need
to take their bags with
them to their
destinations that are prior to coming to Study Hall. We ask
that once the kids arrive and sign into the study hall that
they PLEASE
REMAIN
THERE UNTIL TIME TO CATCH THE BUS. We understand that a
quick trip to the restrooms may be necessary, but constant
flow in and out will simply
not work for
our current situation.
We understand
that on nice days, it is great to take a lap around the
track and enjoy the fresh air, however, once the rowers get
to the water, they'll
have AMPLE
time to soak it in. So parents, if you could please let your
rowers know that the time that the Crew Team is responsible
for your rower
(from when
they sign in until when they leave to catch the bus), they
will need to honor our need to limit traffic in and out of
the trailers. School
policy
requires the kids to be engaged in an organized activity or
it is considered loitering and they will be asked to leave.
So, to keep the team
in the
school's good graces, we need to ask you to ask your rowers
to help us out in this way. We appreciate your support.
The study hall is a new
service this
year and one that we would like to continue to offer to our
Crew Families. We will continue to evaluate our situation
and will evaluate
any
suggestions you may have.
We ask that
the rowers remember that they must pick up after themselves
and re-stack the chairs prior to leaving for the bus. We
need to leave the trailers as clean or cleaner than we find
them.
And just a
friendly reminder, your rowers will benefit from a healthy
snack and a water bottle for study hall (in addition to the
water they will need to have at the river).
