Since crew is a non-funded, competitive varsity sport, funding must come from individuals and fundraising efforts. In order to row on the water, every rower must earn the required points (novice=25 points//returning rowers=75 points) before they will be allowed to compete. Points are earned by volunteering time at various fundraising events or by purchasing scrip. The point system is a fair way of making sure everyone does their share of fundraising. The more money Robinson Crew raises, the more new equipment (shells, rowing machines, etc.) it can buy. Some fundraising events are mandatory.
Rowers can choose from the non-mandatory events to earn the required points.
MANDATORY FUNDRAISERS
| Failure to participate in a mandatory event results in a $100
fee (this may be waived at the discretion of the board of directors). Members will not be allowed to
participate in any crew activity until the fee is paid. |
|
|
| Tag Day |
Plant Sale |
Every crew member must
participate in the crew TAG DAY held yearly in February. Crew members do not receive points for participating
but can receive points for activities associated with TAG DAY and for participating in additional TAG DAYs if
required. |
Crew holds a plant sale yearly in May. ALL crew members (seniors, too) must sell $100 worth of plant
certificates. Crew members earn points for any certificates sold above the mandatory amount & for helping
with the event. |
